West Ashley is located west of the Ashley River and within a short distance from the city of Charleston . The area is home to Middleton Plantation and has history dating back to the Civil War. Over the years, West Ashley has become increasingly popular because of its great restaurants, shopping, proximity to Charleston, and affordable housing. The Avondale area is popular to locals looking for a bite to eat or for a happening spot to meet for a drink. West Ashley is divided by homes inside of I-526 (older) and homes outside of I-526 (newer). Prices range from $100,000 for a fixer upper to $3.5 millon for a deepwater home.
