Charleston’s Top 5 Tennis Communities

Wild Dunes tennis courtCharleston is known for its world class restaurants, shopping, history, architecture, golf, beaches and southern hospitality, but did you know it is also known for its tennis? That’s right.  In 2010 Charleston was voted USTA’s “best tennis town in America” and for a good reason.  Tennis Resorts Online recently updated its top 100 tennis resorts in the world with Kiawah Island Resort at #2 and Wild Dunes Resort at #4. That gives Charleston two of the top 10. Not too shabby.  On top of that, Charleston hosts one of the top WTA tournaments, the Family Circle Cup, at the Family Circle Tennis Center each year. Then, there are tennis communities like I’On, Creekside, Snee Farm, Dunes West, and Charleston Country Club, just to name a few.  But with so many great tennis communities, there are a few in my opinion, that stand out among the rest.  So here are my top 5:

Vacation Home Sales Surge in 2013; Investment Property Declines

IOP FBIn 2013 the second home / vacation home market continued its upward trend with statistics showing home sales up nearly 30%. This is a positive sign for an area that was probably hit the hardest during the real estate crash a few years back.

Condo Sales on the Rise in Wild Dunes

Signs of an improving market continued in 2013 as condo sales maintained an upward trend in Wild Dunes.  In 2012 a total of 42 condos sold for $19,894,000, with an average sales price of $473,666.  While that was a slight improvement over 2012, the difference was barely noticeable.  Now enter in 2013: In 2013, at total of 58 condos sold for $29,180,150,  with an average sales price of $503,106.
